Nippon Dynawave Packaging Incident: Chemical Leak in Longview, Washington Leaves 1 Dead, 9 Injured At least one person has died, nine people were injured and nine employees remain unaccounted for after a large vat of chemical treatment product, including hazardous materials, ruptured at a paper and packaging facility in Washington state, fire officials said. The incident took place around 7:30 a.m. local time at the Nippon Dynawave Packaging Co.  facility in Longview, Washington, following the rupture of a tank containing white liquor, a chemical mixture used in the paper making process, the Longview Fire Department said.  Officials previously said the tank imploded.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Tuesday negotiating a deal with Iran could "take a few days," quashing hopes for an imminent end to the conflict a day after U.S. forces conducted what Washington called defensive strikes in southern Iran.

Describing the strikes against targets including boats attempting to lay mines and missile launch sites, Rubio said the Strait of Hormuz has to be open "one way or the other."
